Active since 1972, the Rockdale House for Men has offered a broad array of recovery services. RHM provides on site residential treatment as a part of its long-term rehabilitation program. This program includes counseling sessions, group therapy, individual counseling, life skill classes and classes in anger management. Staff members are available 24 hours a day. Clients follow a strict regime at RHM. This strict routine facilitates the client' becoming comfortable in a recovery centric environment. It is this environment that offers the tools to develop long lasting recovery.
Treatment at the Rockdale House lasts for a minimum of six months, although residents may opt to stay longer. Daily care revolves around 12-step meetings, individual therapy, group therapy and daily chores. The Rockdale House does not offer detox and require residents to pass a drug and alcohol screen upon arrival.
A typical day at RHM generally begins with residents waking at dawn, followed by breakfast, morning meditation, chores and working in the garden and greenhouses. Everyone goes to at least three meetings a day which can include group, individual or 12 step meetings; in-house and in the community.
After the day’s activities are done, clients can read, journal or hang out with the RHM therapy dogs (named BJ and Roscoe). Residents can watch movies or sporting events on weekends; lights out is at 10 pm.
The Men's house has an all, in-recovery staff, that is on-site 24 hours a day. They consist of a clinical director an executive director and a host of certified addiction counselors, including certified one-on-one counselors. The facility does works with a physician, though not on-site. Residents will be transported the appropriate level of medical care each situation requires. No medical costs are included in the admission or monthly fees. The staff-to-resident ratio is about two or three to one, depending on occupancy.
New residents are on complete restriction for the first 30 days. They will not be able to contact the outside world during this time.
This means no mail, phone calls or visitors. Allowances for emergency situations will of course be made. After this period, they’re allowed two calls a day and may be given a weekend passe to see family every other weekend. No electronics are allowed at on the RHM grounds at any time. Phones will be locked up and only available to clients when the client heads out for work or for weekend pass. They are to be turned in immediately upon returning to the facility.
Residents are required seek local employment after the initial 30 day period. Graduation from the program requires that a resident must have meet certain 12 step requirements, have employment and a safe sober living situation.
Drug and alcohol addiction has had a very negative affect all across the state of Georgia. It carries with it vast array of problems and crisis issues that have had an immense negative effect on the life of the individual and the life of their families. Our goal is to help men restore their lives, become productive members of society, and offer assistance to families of recovering alcoholics and addicts.
It is a proven fact that the longer an alcoholic/addict is in a protected environment the better the chance at sobriety.
The Rockdale House for Men operates off of a long term addiction treatment modality, meaning that their services last for six months to one year . The program engages its clients, and it sees that they make a permanent commitment to recovery by also offering sober living, referrals for halfway-houses and aftercare. This is a total powerhouse addiction treatment center.
